How To Use New Wash

#1 Make sure your hair is thoroughly wet.

#2 Visualize the amount of traditional shampoo and conditioner you use on an average wash. This combined amount is the total amount of New Wash to use when cleansing with New Wash. (Remember there is no need to use conditioner with New Wash. It does it all.)  A good rule of thumb for short to medium-length hair is to use a brussel sprout-sized amount of product.  If your hair is very long, go for two brussel sprouts.

#3 Using the pads of your fingers (sort of massaging with your fingertips) scrub, scrub, scrub.

#4 Leave it for three minutes so that it does its conditioning thing. Then rinse, rinse, rinse.

#5 Towel squeeze your hair. I like to squeeze my hair upwards towards my scalp with my hands, as well.

#6 Finally, sit back and let your hair air dry.

When you are done, you're going to have more movement and texture than you ever thought possible.

One more little note: If your hair is fine and you think it gets weighed down, it's because you're not using enough product and there's still dirt in your hair. Up the amount of product you're working with and take a little longer on the scrub, scrub, scrub. You'll see a difference for sure.

You can check out the video I made describing all the benefits of New Wash and explaining how to use it here. Don’t forget - if you head to my product page, you can use my link to get 20% off your first purchase of New Wash. There's a ton of other fun hair care stuff on my product page, as well.

If you want to learn why I switched to New Wash over a salon shampoo, you can read about it more below…

Let's talk about washing your hair

I don't use traditional professional salon shampoo or conditioner. I use cream cleanser instead and here is why...

I really like hair that has that "one day after washing" look to it. Not oily. Not greasy. You know, a supple sort of bedhead vibe. Most folks like their hair best when it's on the verge of dirty and there's a reason for that! Our hair naturally produces oils and moisture that create body, texture and shape. But, there's a point when you need to wash your hair. It gets icky.

The thing about regular shampoo is that it strips all the oil off your hair and scalp, leaving the hair kind of flat, fluffy and just well…hanging there. In other words, conventional shampoos tend to dry hair out. We try to combat this by piling on a bunch of other products like conditioners or leave-in conditioners or curl activators or serums. (The list goes on and on.) Essentially, we are using a million products to try and replace the moisture and oils that our shampoo just stripped away! And the irony is, stripping the hair of oils and overcleaning it causes the scalp to overproduce oils. Basically, it creates a vicious cycle that we all get stuck in.

New Wash breaks this cycle.

With New Wash, you don't have to have a bad hair day on cleansing day! (Say goodbye to fluffy hair on wash day.)  New Wash is a cream cleanser that replaces both your shampoo and conditioner. I love it because it gives you that amazing “one day after wash” hair that we all want. Just as importantly to me, it’s a non-toxic product. It's both sulfate free and detergent free. And, it's made with essential oils that support our hair's natural oils.

I recommend the original version probably 90% of the time. If your hair is extra dry from color, or it's super coarse gray, or really thirsty and curly, then try the rich version. But, I don't use the deep version. (Sorry Hair Story! I'm just not into it. That's my truth.)

And of course, let me know if there’s anything I can answer for you. I’m always here to help!

Have a beautiful rest of your week.
