  • Carving Petals Minneapolis: Pixies, Shullets, and Mullets

I’m so excited to be teaching a razor cutting class in Minneapolis at the gorgeous HAUS Salon. I’m sure you’ve noticed that shorter hair has been trending, with edgy rockstar mullets to 90’s inspired pixies coming back. I'll teach you how to use a razor to cut both client favorites and up and coming new shapes. We’ll explore hair above the shoulders, little mullets, pixies, and shullets that fit your clients face, learning how to finish by styling with only your hands.

  • Diffuse, Brush Out, and Style Curly Hair with Ease

You’ll learn my tricks and simple steps for curls and waves. I’ll teach you how to diffuse and brush out your client’s curls. There is a lot of information out there about the dos and don'ts of curls. In this class I'm going to break down the myth and undo the rules. After 30 years of cutting curly hair and seeing what works and what doesn't work, I am ready to share it with you! It's simple and easy and you will be thrilled.

  • HAND STYLING A SHAG: STRAIGHT TO WAVY HAIR

You’ll learn how to style hair effortlessly without using any curling iron or any fuss. I will show you how to spend less time and use less product while getting the volume, definition and petals you or your clients are hoping for. I will also be showing a couple tricks to put hair up super easily. We will cover glasses, face shapes, cowlicks, and hair that's two different textures.

  • Join My New Wash Community

I love New Wash, and it works for every single client when used properly. I've never made much money or really cared about product commissions, but during covid, I had to figure out how to support my salon and things have really changed for me and my stylists with this company. If you want to know how to do it, it's super easy. Just sign up through my link here and they will send you a free bag! New Wash is toxic-free and everyone wants to be more eco-friendly.

  • The Tools I Use

The razor has a bad reputation because stylists often use it to scrape down the outside of the hair without applying any tension. However, when used properly, with the edge of the blade and a carving motion instead of scraping, the razor creates seamless layers that complement the client's natural texture. The result is a lived-in, easy, and stylish look that exudes a laid-back vibe.Description goes here

A little about how I got started, and how teaching and giving back to the community has always been important to me…

Our family didn’t have a lot of money growing up, and I started cutting my own hair as a kid trying to make a fashion statement, developing a knack for face-framing styles. Teaching myself how to cut hair, it lead me to a career as a professional stylist where I worked independently for five years before opening Edo Salon in San Francisco.

Using a straight razor, I earned a reputation for organic, free-hand shags and delicate, face-framing layers, and was fortunate enough to be featured in the New York Times, Forbes, and CNN. Currently, I work as a full time educator, following in the footsteps of my parents who were both teachers. I love the hair community, and I am so excited to be sharing with you my technique of "carving petals" into the hair to create the most romantic layers and face framing bits that I know your clients will love.

I offer a variety of ways for stylists to learn my techniques. My favorite way to teach is in person, on tour. If you’d like to host me at your salon, you can fill out a form here. Occasionally I teach live virtual classes and just recently I’ve launched my Stylist Series - online courses you can take to begin to learn about razor cutting, or to perfect a specific cut or shape. New classes will be released every few weeks, so make sure you’re signed up to my newsletter to get all the updates!
